Intern- Fiscal Management & Project Support | Texas Association of Regional Councils
The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at Texas Association of Regional Councils, located in Arlington, TX. The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is recognized as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States, the Dallas-Fort Worth region. NCTCOG is a voluntary association established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development, specifically developing transportation plans and programs since 1974. This intern role is crucial for supporting grant-related administrative processes for transportation projects by organizing essential files, recording metadata, completing data entry, and creating documentation, which directly aids the efficient management of vital regional development initiatives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage documentation: Scan, upload, and organize both electronic and physical files, and assist the supervisor with paid invoice maintenance to ensure records are current and accessible.
• Administer departmental resources: Work with the supervisor to accurately track and update department subscriptions, memberships, travel acknowledgements, and travel credits.
• Facilitate financial closeouts: Draft communications for supervisor review regarding payable closeouts and provide assistance to the supervisor with purchase order closeouts for various projects.
• Conduct financial reporting: Assist the supervisor with project-related financial reporting and analysis, contributing to the understanding of project expenditures and progress.
• Process financial adjustments: Work with the supervisor to process accounting transfers and corrections, and draft tables, charts, and process documentation for supervisor review to improve clarity and efficiency.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment, with a detail-oriented and process-minded approach.
• Experience: No work experience required.
• Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks, and work independently and in a team.
• Bonus: Attending school in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and able to work at least 20 hours per week while attending school.
