The Wauwatosa Fire Department is seeking Intern Firefighters for an unpaid, training-based internship. This is a continuous job posting, meaning there is no specific application deadline. This internship is designed to provide qualified candidates with hands-on experience in the field, under the guidance of experienced professionals. As an Intern Firefighter, you will have the opportunity to:
• Enhance your education and skills in fire suppression, hazardous materials response, rescue operations, emergency medical services, fire inspection, and vehicle and fire station maintenance.
• Determine if a career in firefighting aligns with your interests, values, skills, and personality.
• Gain hands-on experience in the field.

Key Requirements:
• Unpaid, Training-Based Position: This is an unpaid internship focused on training and development.
• Shift Commitment: A minimum of one 8-hour shift per week (Monday – Friday) is required. Occasional exceptions may be made for 8-hour shifts on Saturday/Sunday.
• Time Commitment: A two-year commitment to the internship is preferred.
