Job Description: Intern/Co-op in Manufacturing
This internship/co-op offers hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing setting. Interns/co-ops will contribute to various production process stages, working on real-world projects focused on:
• Process troubleshooting and optimization: Identifying and resolving production issues and improving efficiency.
• Root cause analysis: Determining the underlying causes of problems to prevent recurrence.
• Safety improvements: Contributing to a safer work environment through proactive identification and mitigation of hazards.
Beyond technical skills, the position fosters development in:
• Project management: Learning to plan, execute, and manage projects effectively, meeting deadlines.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Working effectively with teams across different departments.
The internship provides opportunities to expand knowledge in:
• Process chemistry: Understanding the chemical reactions and processes involved in manufacturing.
• Operational safety: Implementing and adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
• Quality assurance: Ensuring the quality and consistency of products.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plant safety awareness and adherence.
• Learning and documenting manufacturing processes.
• Understanding Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process variation.
• Applying process optimization techniques.
• Learning lab test methods and procedures.
• Compiling and presenting project summaries to management.
Required Education and Qualifications:
• Completion of the sophomore year in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); MS Access familiarity is a plus.
• Basic understanding of chemistry and hands-on lab experience.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated leadership potential and proactive problem-solving abilities.
Assignment Duration and Compensation:
• Intern: 8-12 weeks
• Compensation: Market-competitive hourly rate, overtime eligible, paid holidays. (Note: No housing, health, welfare, or vacation benefits are offered.)
Expectations:
• Punctual and regular attendance.
• Adherence to all site policies and training requirements.
• Active participation in company-hosted intern/co-op events.
• Delivery of a final presentation summarizing key learnings and contributions.
