About the Job: Intern-Clinical Psych

This position is for an Intern-Clinical Psych within the UHC: Psychiatry – 2nd Level Providers department.

The Job Summary outlines the primary responsibilities:
• Works under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist.
• Provides assistance to patients and their families.
• Assistance is in the form of counseling, psychotherapy, and psychological evaluations.
• Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Education: A Master’s Degree in clinical psychology is required.
Experience: No experience required, making this an entry-level professional role for those with the specified education.

Knowledge and Skills expected for this role include a broad range of abilities:
Literacy and Communication: Able to read, write legibly, speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality, and communicate effectively in person, in writing, and on the telephone.
Technical Proficiency: Ability to use computer and software programs necessary to the position and troubleshoot/calibrate patient care equipment.
Interpersonal and Professional Conduct: Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following/enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; and accept direction.
Cognitive and Work Management: Expected to think critically, work independently with minimal supervision, perform basic math functions, manage multiple assignments effectively, work well under pressure, problem solve, organize and prioritize workload, recall information with accuracy, and pay close attention to detail.
Physical and Sensory Abilities: Required to distinguish colors and smells necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation (in person and on telephone) and identify various workplace/patient care sounds; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents; and discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
