Job Description: Intern – Business Fields
This position offers an exciting opportunity for an intern to support a department or function by performing assigned tasks or assisting with assigned projects, thereby gaining a valuable understanding of the business function within Intermountain Health.
Scope of the Internship
- Generally, this internship is a required or preferred component of an undergraduate or graduate studies program.
- It allows students to gain work experience in one or more non-clinical roles.
- The work experience and projects will be directly related to the student’s field of study and will contribute to Intermountain’s mission, vision, and values.
- All internships require a business justification from the relevant department and/or facility, ensuring they support projects or processes that add value to Intermountain.
- This is a temporary position, typically lasting around 6 months.
- Please note: Temporary positions are not eligible for Intermountain’s benefits programs, PTO accrual, or paid holidays.
Job Essentials and Responsibilities
- Project Participation: Actively participates and is involved in a variety of projects that support the needs of the department/facility. Works collaboratively with team members to identify solutions and perform tasks that contribute to individual and team goals.
- Team Engagement: Attends team and department meetings, actively participating and seizing opportunities to share pertinent knowledge and skills.
- Organizational Learning: Gains a comprehensive understanding of the department’s/facility’s functions. May have the opportunity to job shadow various roles within the department to grasp their contributions to the overall organization.
- Collaboration: Works effectively with other members of the department/facility to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Project Assistance (Specific): May be assigned one or more specific projects during the internship. The intern will demonstrate an understanding of the project process and accountability for its results/outcomes. This may involve working independently or as a member of a team to complete necessary tasks, involving others when needed in a timely manner, and striving to meet project timelines.
- Miscellaneous Support: Provides operational and/or clerical support to the department/facility as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Student currently in their third or fourth year of an undergraduate program at an accredited institution, pursuing studies in business fields (e.g., Finance, Communications, Marketing, HR, Legal, etc.). Education will be verified.
- Technical Skills: Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, e-mail, and scheduling applications.
- Communication Skills: Proven experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform tasks requiring speaking, hearing/listening, seeing, and manual dexterity.

Compensation
The hourly range for this position is $17.42 – $24.38. The actual hourly rate will be dependent upon experience.
