About the Milwaukee Brewers Communications Team
The Milwaukee Brewers Communications team plays a crucial role in sharing news, both on and off the field, to a wide range of audiences, including fans, media, and internal stakeholders. As part of the business communications team, the intern will be exposed to the diverse projects and events that the team manages.
Job Description: Intern – Business Communications
Key Responsibilities:
• Drafting Communications Materials: You will be actively involved in drafting press releases, media advisories, pitch letters, and key messages related to various business communications efforts. This includes news about ticketing, special events, community relations initiatives, “Beyond the Diamond” programs, concerts, partnership announcements, and more.
• Content Creation: You will draft blog posts highlighting the Brewers Community Foundation and #BeyondtheDiamond initiatives.
• Media Relations: You will gain experience in proactive media pitching through emails, phone calls, and in-person interactions. You will also support onsite media during press events and provide assistance at special events like the Wall of Honor, Walk of Fame, press conferences, and other media-related gatherings.
• Media Management: You will create and maintain media lists, track and compile media coverage, assist with media mailings, and provide general support to the business communications and media relations teams.
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Sport Management, or related field.
• Prior experience in a media relations or sports information role within a professional sports or college environment is preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
