Intern Tax Winter 2028 | Minneapolis | Forvis Mazars US

The Tone:
This is an internship at Forvis Mazars, located in Minneapolis, MN. Forvis Mazars is a 7,000+ team member organization providing assurance, tax, and consulting services across all 50 states and internationally. As an intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in public accounting, working on client engagements similar to those of entry-level associates and developing your skillset alongside senior staff and management. This role offers exposure to various industries and helps you test your technical knowledge in a professional setting.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Part-time or Full-time (Winter semester, early-January through April 15th)
• Location: In-person Minneapolis, MN
• Pay: $30 hourly
• Mission: This role is responsible for contributing to client engagements by preparing tax returns, calculating payments, and analyzing financial data, while gaining practical experience in public accounting.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office suite (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconciliation: Work with client personnel to reconcile account differences and analyze financial data.
• Tax Preparation: Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, or other tax returns.
• Payment Calculation: Calculate tax extension or estimate payments.
• Client Participation: Participate in client meetings alongside Forvis Mazars partners and managers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum qualification: Bachelor Degree. Career level: Entry-Level. Must be actively working toward CPA Exam eligibility, with satisfactory academic performance in major-related coursework. A minimum cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 is required.
• Experience: Solid technical accounting knowledge is essential. This role provides initial exposure to financial data analysis and tax return preparation in a professional setting.
• Skills: Effective time management, strong oral and written communication skills, close attention to detail, problem-solving attitude, and ability to work under pressure and against deadlines.
• Bonus: Strong computer skills preferred, including Microsoft Office suite. Willingness to take initiative and ability to work well with a team as well as independently. Must have reliable transportation to and from your assigned office and be able to attend off-site meetings and events in person.
