Assurance Intern – Winter 2028 (Atlanta) | BDO USA

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at BDO USA, located in Atlanta, GA. BDO is a professional services organization that provides assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and around the world. This role matters as it offers an energetic self-starter the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the Assurance practice, applying academic knowledge to real-world scenarios while learning BDO’s methodologies. Interns will contribute to client service, develop professional relationships, and begin building a foundational career in accounting.

• Mission: To assist with problem-solving and fact-finding within the Assurance practice, gaining hands-on experience and forging relationships for career success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Training: Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
• Audit Assistance: Become familiar with BDO-specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process and provide support to audit staff during engagements.
• Client Communication: Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Documentation: Prepare and document work in working papers utilizing BDO-specific tools and templates.
• Research Project: Complete one assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting; actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA.
• Experience: No specific years required; leadership experience is preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to follow instructions as directed.
• Bonus: Pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team setting; positive attitude and willingness to learn.
