The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at Matrix Design Group, Inc., located in Denver or Colorado Springs, CO. This role is crucial for college juniors, seniors, or recent graduates interested in gaining unparalleled exposure and real-world experience within a multidisciplinary firm, with a primary focus on ecology.

The TL;DR

• Mission: To provide support for various multidisciplinary projects, with a focus on ecological assessments, field work, and technical reporting, enabling interns to gain practical experience.
• Tech Stack: ArcGIS Pro, AutoCad, Civil 3D, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, FieldMaps, Indesign, Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Fieldwork: Assist the ecology team in performing a range of fieldwork, including post-construction monitoring, construction oversight, wetland delineations, and vegetation and wildlife surveys.
• Reporting: Prepare technical reports such as monthly/quarterly monitoring reports, ecological assessments, and environmental documentation required for project planning and permitting.
• Data Management: Digitize and organize substantial quantities of field data using various applications like Microsoft Excel, ArcGIS Pro, and Adobe Indesign.
• Mapping & Analysis: Utilize ArcGIS software to create maps and conduct data analysis to effectively support diverse project requirements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, environmental specialists, and other team members to ensure all project goals are successfully met.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be a college junior or senior, or a recent graduate, actively pursuing or with an interest in degree programs such as Ecology, Natural Resources, Wildlife Management, Water Resources and Watershed Sciences, and/or Environmental Services.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience or interest in preparing environmental reports and documentation, with the ability to balance demands from multiple projects and fieldwork.
• Skills: Strong technical writing skills, excellent communication abilities, and robust organizational skills, coupled with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Bonus: Working knowledge of native, non-native, and noxious vegetation commonly found along the Colorado front range; knowledge of wildlife habitat assessment techniques; and experience with ArcGIS software.
