Job Description:
This is a paid internship ($18.00/hour) designed for undergraduate (junior or senior year) and master’s-level students interested in economics, data science, applied mathematics, and public policy. PhD students are not eligible. Interns will work on research projects related to topics like migration policy, the future of work, economic mobility, industrial policy, and regional economic development. The internship offers the chance to apply classroom knowledge in a professional environment, develop analytical and econometric skills, and gain exposure to various stages of the research process. Interns will attend meetings, think tank events, and professional development workshops, and network with other interns.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting with background research, including literature reviews.
• Gathering data from primary and secondary sources.
• Cleaning and manipulating data.
• Conducting basic statistical analysis.
• Running regressions and creating tables/figures.
Requirements:
• Must be an undergraduate student in their junior or senior year or a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in a relevant field (economics, data science, applied mathematics, etc.).
• Demonstrated interest in public policy, emerging markets/migration/labor economics.
• Working knowledge of statistics and econometrics.
• Experience with Excel and R/Python/Stata.
• Experience with data visualization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be located in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.
Location:
• This position is open to hybrid and/or remote applicants. Hybrid work combines regular in-person presence at our Washington, DC, office with the option of remote work. Work location cannot be in any of the following states Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington. Please only apply if you can live and work in states other than those listed above for the duration of the internship.
Additional Information:
• Interns must be willing to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week during regular business hours.
• Successful completion of a background investigation is required.
