Job Description (Detailed)

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), paid internship position for an Intern at Weber Shandwick, based in their New York City office with a hybrid work model. The internship is scheduled to run from September through December.

Role Summary:
Interns at Weber Shandwick become an important and fully integrated part of account teams, contributing to campaigns for widely recognized brands and companies. The program aims to provide practical experience, coaching, and mentorship to help advance the intern’s career goals.

Key Responsibilities (“What you’ll do all day”):
Create: Craft various written communications, including media materials and compelling social content.
Research: Conduct in-depth examination of brands, industry trends, and relevant issues utilizing diverse resources.
Engage: Actively participate and share big ideas in brainstorming sessions and with teams.
Plan: Provide assistance with event coordination and logistical tasks.
Hustle: Engage in media relations activities such as pitching stories to media, developing comprehensive media lists, and tracking placements.
Monitor: Track brands and issues across traditional and social media, analyze conversations, and draft reports summarizing findings to inform client strategies.
Organization: Maintain organization of the product closet, check inventory levels, and order necessary product and shipping supplies.
Product Send-outs: Compile various product mailers and coordinate product shipments effectively.

Thought: Demonstrated strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
Communication: Ability to speak, write, and edit succinctly and effectively.
Digital: A comprehensive understanding of both established and the latest social media platforms, including current brand strategies and future recommendations.
Management: Proficiency in meeting deadlines, managing unexpected issues (“putting out fires”), and multitasking efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering clear and precise work.
Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Familiarity with platforms such as Cision, Muckrack, Meltwater, Talkwalker, Brandwatch, and/or Quid is a plus.
Dynamic: Must be capable of thriving in a fast-paced agency environment and expertly juggling multiple time-sensitive tasks.
Spark: An understanding of unique qualities or skills that differentiate you.

Salary:
The hourly salary range for this position in NYC is $20.00 – $20.00. The final compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as actual ranges for current/former employees, market considerations, budgetary considerations, and the applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
