This is an internship at Fairmont Consulting Group, located in Boston, MA and Washington, D.C. Fairmont Consulting Group is a fast-growing management consulting firm specializing in merger and acquisition due diligence and strategic advisory services. The firm focuses on corporate and financial sector clients active in the aerospace, defense, and government services sectors. This role is crucial as interns become core team members, gaining broad experience in consulting and these specialized industries. Successful interns are considered for a full-time analyst position upon graduation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Engagements: Support Fairmont engagements across both the strategy and M&A diligence advisory practices, becoming a core team member.
• Address Strategic Questions: Assist in addressing critical questions and decisions for senior leadership teams of large and middle-market aerospace, defense, and government services companies.
• Conduct Market Analysis: Contribute to evaluating long-term industry trends, assessing the market for currently-served or adjacent domains, and developing acquisition screens for M&A targets.
• Perform M&A Due Diligence: Engage in buy and sell side merger and acquisition transactions, focusing on evaluating a company’s strategic positioning related to programs, technology, and industry structure.
• Execute Data-Intensive Research: Conduct rigorous, data-intensive research on M&A target’s market, business potential, and competitive environment for clients including large private equity firms.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be a candidate for a Bachelor’s degree, targeting a Fall 2027 or Spring 2028 graduation. Preferred fields of study include engineering, science, economics, finance, business, or political science.
• Experience: Demonstrated interest or prior experience in the aerospace, defense, and/or government services sectors is essential. Prior experience or demonstrated interest in business analysis, financial analysis, corporate strategy, and/or M&A is also required.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to think critically, display strong attention to detail, maintain a strong work ethic, demonstrate flexibility, and possess a positive attitude. Solid academic credentials with a minimum 3.5 GPA and US citizenship are mandatory.
• Bonus: Candidates from other areas of study will be fully considered, provided they can demonstrate strong quantitative skills.
