Job Description (Detailed)
This internship is designed for individuals interested in event execution, retail, entrepreneurship, communications, social media, and general business operations. It is a hybrid internship requiring a presence in the studio and at events, along with remote work.
Key Internship Details:
• Availability: Currently seeking Fall/Winter 2025 interns, with an internship period typically from August 4th to December 20th. Flexibility on exact start and end dates in August and Mid-December, respectively, can be discussed. The internship is offered year-round for various semesters, so applicants should specify their availability.
• Location Requirement: Must be physically located in the Cleveland/Akron/Northeast Ohio/Canton area for the duration of the internship to apply.
• Compensation: This is a stipend-paid internship, paid out at the completion of each work week. More details on the stipend will be provided during the interviewing process. Interns keep 100% of any tips received at events, which are expected at many private events, markets, and festivals.
Work Schedule Breakdown:
• Studio Days: Required to be in the studio in Solon once a week (either Mondays or Tuesdays), with the possibility of a second day on an as-needed basis for overflow of event/order/logistic prep or photoshoots.
• Remote Work (Weekdays): The remainder of the weekday work is remote from home. This involves preparing social media plans, scheduling posts, assisting with newsletter eblasts, creating videos for social media, and promoting upcoming events and marketing campaigns.
• Weekend Events: Expect to work anywhere from 1-3 events per weekend on average. These include parties, weddings, art shows, festivals, and farmer’s markets. Early mornings are common for farmer’s markets, and late evenings may occur for corporate or wedding events.
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Content Creation & Marketing:
• Develop and write eblasts, newsletters, event, and new product/sales promotions.
• Create weekly social media plans for Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok.
• Manage and upload content weekly to Dropbox for marketing needs.
• Post live on social media (status updates, stories) while at events, emphasizing creativity and brand alignment.
• Studio Operations & Logistics:
• Pre-spin pre-packaged cotton candy containers.
• Assist with logistics leading up to weekend events.
• Prep for online and retail location orders within the studio weekly, and document the process for social media content.
• Participate in and plan photoshoots and videos for marketing campaigns, acting as creative director to stage, design, and shoot new content.
• Shoot behind-the-scenes content for weekly posting.
• Learn and utilize various creative software like Canva, Splice, Boomerang, and TikTok.
• Event Execution:
• Work the C • L • E Cotton Candy booth at local events.
• Responsible for collecting payments and handling sales.
• Post on social media and take pictures during events.
• Clean up following events.
• Public Relations:
• Write quarterly press releases to promote the company, its activities, and new developments to gain media attention.
Requirements:
• Reliable transportation (car) to travel to and from events and the studio.
• Personal computer to complete assignments.
• Ability to review and sign a travel release and hold harmless agreement (provided prior to starting the internship if selected).
• Must be outgoing and work well in a retail/sales environment.
