This is a Temporary Intern position classified under the Construction Job Family, located in Charlotte, NC 28209 USA within the Carolinas division.

Position Overview:
The primary purpose of this role is to assist in day-to-day supervised activities related to the development of a construction project. The goal is to help the intern build foundational knowledge in various aspects of construction management, including business and project financial management, project safety protocols, subcontractor relationships, quality control, and overall project coordination and lifecycle.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities (General):
The Intern/Co-Op will be supervised and assigned to work at an active construction project site, or in a main office department such as Preconstruction/Estimating, Business Development, Special Projects (SPD), or Self Perform Operations (SPO), depending on business needs. Core responsibilities include:
• Supporting the project team with meeting coordination, material tracking, file management, document control, and progress reporting.
• Providing progress reports to the supervisor and demonstrating receptiveness to learning about construction management.
• Applying academic knowledge to real-world company/project settings.
• Maintaining professional relationships with employees, customers, clients, and subcontractors.
• Actively participating in training, meetings, and orientation sessions.
• Performing other assigned activities, duties, and responsibilities as needed.
Assignment-Based Activities (May be performed):
Depending on the specific assignment, the intern may also:
• Assist with project start-up activities and provide support to the Project Engineer, Project Superintendent, and/or Project Manager.
• Aid in the collection and review of information and approvals for processing shop drawings, submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Help prepare and distribute information for contract requirements to relevant parties.
• Assist in preparing estimates for changes in work from subcontractors.
• Attend project site visits to observe and document construction field activities.
• Assist with preparing and conducting correspondence and communication with Architects, Engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Aid in communicating with Trades and subcontractors to understand and track job schedules.
• Help monitor contractor compliance with Turner’s safety program, as directed.
• Assist with quantity take-offs and studies for project items using traditional or computer-aided programs.
• Request and distribute subcontractor proposals to assemble proposals for the delivery system.
• Assist with project close-out preparations.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Education: Enrolled and actively pursuing an accredited college or university degree program, with a minimum of 1 year of completed education. Recommended majors include Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or other related fields of study, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Physical Demands:
The role requires a degree of physical activity. Employees frequently sit, use hands for objects/tools, reach, talk, and hear. Regular mobility is required, including the ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders, and navigate work areas under construction. Frequent viewing of a computer monitor and keyboard use is also involved. Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. The employee may occasionally travel short and long distances and must regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
The work environment varies. Employees may regularly work in a quiet to moderate office setting. However, they may also occasionally work at active construction sites, where they will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes/airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and the risk of electrical shock. The noise level at construction sites is usually moderate to loud. Adherence to company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws is mandatory in all environments.
