Job Description

Martin Brûlé Studio is seeking an experienced Interior Designer to support and work closely with the internal Design Team to efficiently execute projects within deadline constraints.

As a growing interior design firm, MBS is looking for a motivated designer with a minimum of 2 years of relevant design experience to join their practice. The ideal candidate should have experience in high-end renovations and architectural projects, working on all phases of development for Interior Architecture and design documents. Experience having worked for a top interior design firm is highly desirable.

The Designer will work directly with the firm’s principal designers to ensure the facilitation of a project’s completion meeting timelines and budgets. Candidates must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and creative. An ideal Designer should possess a high level of knowledge in concept development, design and construction documents, and project management skills.

Job Responsibilities

• Working directly with the Head of Design and Senior Designers to see projects through from inception to completion.
• Assisting the Head of Design and Senior Designers in project management of multiple projects simultaneously.
• Attending design meetings and installations with the Head of Design, and preparing meeting minutes for distribution and task lists.
• Creating detailed technical drawings including furniture plans, elevations, Reflected Ceiling Plans (RCPs), millwork drawings, and custom furniture drawings.
• Using computer-aided drafting (CAD) and related software to produce construction documents.
• Managing own timelines and priorities as part of a cross-functional team and collaboratively meeting tight deadlines.
• Assisting with coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections.
• Building comprehensive client presentations.
• Utilizing presentation tools including Adobe Suite (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign) and basic office software like Microsoft Office, and Keynote.
• Utilizing project management tools such as Asana and Excel.
• Researching and sourcing interior products and relevant interior finishes/materials for review.
• Maintaining and organizing project folders with all related drawings, specs, schedules, etc.
• Conducting site visits to supervise/check-in as needed.
• Advising clients on interior design factors such as space planning, layout and use of furnishings or equipment, and color coordination.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant design experience, with a preference for experience at a top interior design firm.
• Proven experience in high-end renovations and architectural projects, covering all phases of development for Interior Architecture and design documents.
• Extensive knowledge of NYC / Paris design resources including furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, vendors, and artisans.
• Deep understanding of design history, design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) software for construction documents.
• Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, and Keynote for presentation creation.
• Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana and Excel.
• Clear understanding of industry terminology for architectural materials (flooring, tile/stone) and custom furniture/window treatments.
• Strong grasp of the ordering and production process.
• Excellent knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and creative.
