About the Job: Interior Design Summer Internship at Wendel

We are actively seeking an enthusiastic Interior Design student for an in-person summer internship at our Richmond, VA location. This program is designed to immerse interns in project work, offering valuable insights into the various phases of the design process within the commercial interiors industry.
Wendel’s award-winning internship program includes structured weekly check-in meetings among interns across all 16 office locations nationwide. These sessions foster connections among students and provide opportunities to learn from our professionals on industry-related and advantageous career topics.
As an intern, you will contribute as a fully collaborative team member, participating in projects from initial design studies through to construction documentation. We emphasize project leadership and encourage extensive collaboration, frequently working hand-in-hand with architects, graphic designers, fabricators, and other interior specialists, many of whom are leaders in their respective fields.
Internship Purpose:
- Work on real-life projects, including tenant fit-outs, corporate and private development projects, and medical office layouts.
- Actively collaborate on projects with junior and senior interior designers and architects.
- Engage in collaboration with clients and designers in other offices.
- Assist with conceptual design, field verification, finish selections, and redlines.
- Develop a deeper understanding of the interior design field.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Interior Design from an accredited institution.
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Revit experience preferred.
- A self-starter, collegial, diligent, and eager to learn about the day-to-day realities of a career in architecture.
- Strong preference for upperclassmen.
- Ability to work on-site in Richmond, VA, and travel if needed.

Compensation:
Hourly Range: $19.00 – $21.00
