Role Overview:
CAPTRUST is seeking a dynamic Institutional/Wealth Planner Intern to join our retirement plan advisory and wealth planning teams. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various functions, including supporting marketing efforts, managing ongoing client service projects, assisting with financial planning, onboarding new institutional and wealth clients, and contributing to the development of new strategies and solutions.
As a CAPTRUST intern, you are expected to maintain the highest professional and ethical standards, be well-organized, service-oriented, and capable of performing effectively under tight deadlines. While an internship may lead to future full-time employment, it is not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities:
Institutional Job Responsibilities:
- Support business development activities such as prospecting initiatives, research for potential COIs, creating and analyzing client reports for presentation, and providing client service when needed.
- Assist the Client Management Consultant team in the preparation and review of quarterly performance reports.
- Assist in the preparation and review of fee and expense benchmarking analysis and reports for qualified retirement plans.
- Attend client investment committee meetings to observe (upon invitation from advisor).
- Attend Participant Advice sessions with our plan advisors to observe participant meetings.
- Learn and develop qualified and non-qualified retirement plan knowledge and skills.
- Work closely with financial advisors, client service, and peers on the Institutional team.
Wealth Job Responsibilities:
- Support the transition of client’s financial planning data into our financial planning system, WealthView.
- Support business development activities such as portfolio analytics and marketing deliverables with prospective clients.
- Assist in updating our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System and database.
- Learn WealthView, BlackDiamond, and other planning software(s).
- Learn key professional presentation and relationship building skills.
- Learn and develop financial planning knowledge and skills.
- Work closely with financial advisors, client service, and peers on the Wealth Planning team.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate degree; rising Junior or Senior preferred.
- All School of Business Majors (Accounting, Finance, Economics, Financial Planning, or Taxation preferred).
- Significant interest in the workings of retirement plans and private wealth management.
Desired Qualifications/Skills:
- Strong critical thinker who is a strong self-starter.
- High-level proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented and able to multitask with proven ability to plan and achieve results.
- Demonstrates highest personal ethics and integrity.
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of information.
- Team player, collaborative, able to work with and through others.
