About the Internship
The Inpatient Pharmacy Tech I Non Certified position is responsible for providing support to the pharmacist by reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. This position works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Responsibilities
• Compounds and prepares medications, including sterile products, oral medications, topical medications, and controlled substances.
• Delivers and exchanges medications to patient areas and returns unused medications to the pharmacy.
• Documents pharmaceutical activities, including patient billing, quality control requirements, and other data.
• Responds to and triages requests from customers for assistance with pharmacy services.
• Operates and supports automated dispensing technology.
• Orders, receives, restocks, and rotates inventory.
• Completes expiration date management.
• Contributes to process improvement projects.
• Completes regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas.
Currently pursuings
• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Active pharmacy technician registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) within 30 days of hire.
• Must obtain pharmacy technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) within 24 months of hire.
• Prior pharmacy technician experience preferred.
