Job Description
This posting is for the Information Technology (IT) Intern Program at Abbott. Please note that this is for general consideration, and candidates will be contacted if their qualifications match a current need.
Program Overview:
The IT Intern Program is a twelve-week summer assignment designed for college students who aspire to be future leaders in the IT field. The program aims to recruit individuals who may work for Abbott full-time after their graduation.
Basic Qualifications:
• Candidates must have a strong interest in pursuing a career in the IT field.
• Applicants must currently be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (specifically Sophomore or Junior status) or a Master’s degree in an IT-related discipline or a formal focus area.
• Candidates must be returning to school following the completion of the internship assignment.
• An excellent academic record is required, with a minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA.
• Applicants must possess permanent unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
• Crucially, candidates must have work authorization on a long-term basis that will allow them to work for Abbott without sponsorship after completing their education.
Preferred Qualifications (Coursework):
Ideal candidates will have coursework that includes a variety of IT-related classes, such as:
• Programming, Software Development
• SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) including DevOps, Agile, Iterative, and Incrementation Concepts
• Internet of Things (IoT)
• System, Network Administration
• Cloud Development

Internship Assignment Details:
• IT Interns will be aligned to summer assignments in key areas of IT.
• Assignment matching takes into consideration the IT Intern’s interests, talents, and development needs to ensure the best fit.
• Work assignments may be located at Abbott’s Corporate Headquarters in Abbott Park, Illinois (approximately 40 miles North of Chicago), or one of Abbott’s many other domestic locations across the United States.
• Successful candidates must be willing to relocate during the assignment period.
Compensation:
The base pay for this position ranges from $9.42 to $33.59 per hour. Please note that in specific locations, the pay range may vary from the posted range.
