Job Summary
Maguire is seeking a motivated and self-driven Information Technology (IT) Intern to join our in-house IT department. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience by supporting our IT operations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing technical assistance, ensuring the smooth maintenance of computer systems, and configuring essential hardware and software. This position requires an individual capable of troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, assisting with the implementation of new technologies, and providing essential training and support to our team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive technical assistance to staff and customers regarding hardware and software-related issues.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot a wide range of computer systems, hardware, and software applications.
- Monitor system performance diligently and proactively troubleshoot any operational issues that arise.
- Adhere strictly to established procedures and processes for routine computer maintenance.
- Deliver training and support to team members on the effective use of computer systems and various software applications.
- Perform regular system backups and maintain accurate, detailed records of all IT activities.
- Conduct research and recommend viable solutions for complex technical problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the IT department.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Education:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Completion of the first year of post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, IT Support) is essential.
- Technical Skills:
- Solid knowledge of computer systems and software.
- Familiarity with fundamental network and system security principles.
- Practical understanding and familiarity with hardware and software installation processes.
- Core Competencies:
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, enabling effective interaction with staff and customers.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- A demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing technology and evolving technical environments.
Work Environment
- The majority of time will be spent in a professional office environment.
- Involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional requirement to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
