AARP’s Information Technology Services (ITS) department is responsible for enterprise-wide technology and information security, encompassing infrastructure design and operations, system and software lifecycle implementations, mobile workforce enablement, and network/data protection. ITS utilizes cloud computing, automation, AI, and machine learning within Agile teams.
Job Description: Information Technology Intern
AARP’s ITS team is seeking a rising junior, senior, or graduate student for a paid internship (May/June 2025 – August 2025). This internship offers the opportunity to apply computer science, technology, business, and people skills within an Agile environment, impacting the 50+ community.
Responsibilities:
• Prototyping various technologies, including generative AI systems.
• Meeting with key ITS leaders to learn about technology solution design, delivery, operation, and promotion.
• Contributing to data analyses and writing up findings.
• Learning and applying AARP’s Design Thinking framework.
• Learning and applying Agile principles and practices with AARP capability and platform teams.
• Collaborating with technology stakeholders to provide service solutions.
• Enhancing overall system security, performance, and availability.
• Constructing, implementing, and deploying process-centric Business Process Management solutions.
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in math, statistics, scientific computing, data and analytics, business analytics, marketing, or a related field.
• Advanced problem-solving skills using logic and data; a willingness and capacity to learn quickly and apply new knowledge.
• Ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly to less experienced individuals.
• Proven analytical skills and excellent written and oral communication abilities.
• College-level experience with coding practices and languages (Java, C/C++, Python, etc.).
• Experience with popular business tools (Windows, Office Professional, Visio, SharePoint, etc.); advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills.

Compensation and Benefits:
• hourly range: $18 (undergraduates), $21 (graduate students), $28 (Ph.D. candidates).
• Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
