Job Description

Internship Program Overview:

Subaru’s internship program offers students the chance to gain valuable real-world experience, work on meaningful projects, collaborate with professionals, and develop skills relevant to their future careers.

IT-Connected Business Internship:

This internship is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or MBA with a major in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems. It’s a full-year opportunity (37.5 hours per week during summer, ~20-25 hours during school year) beginning in May and concluding the following May. The internship is located at Subaru Headquarters in Camden, NJ.

Qualifications:

• Juniors, Seniors planning to pursue a Master’s Degree, or students currently enrolled in a Master’s Program.
• Active student status throughout the internship.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Required Skills:

Programming experience: Java or comparable languages.
UI Programming experience: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React or comparable framework (MySubaru).
SQL experience (a plus)
Unix/Linux scripting experience (a plus)
AWS or other cloud experience (a plus)
Windows and PC experience
Microsoft Office experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Business courses (a plus)

Areas within the Department:

Connected Business IT (Platform)
Connected Business IT (MySubaru)

Responsibilities:

• Gather and document requirements for small projects and write technical specifications.
• Develop and implement projects according to department standards.
• Participate in development activities for projects, maintenance, and support.
• Participate in functional and integration testing for projects and maintenance.
• Assist with project management tasks.
• Communicate with multiple teams within the department and gain familiarity with their operations.
• Present formal status and learning objectives to management periodically.

Summary:

Subaru’s Connected Business Information Technology Department is a fast-paced and exciting environment where interns can be involved in the planning, development, and maintenance of telematics technology. The Connected Business IT Platform Team designs, deploys, and manages applications, hardware, and infrastructure crucial for Subaru’s strategic goals. The Connected Business IT MySubaru Team focuses on the design, development, and deployment of customer-facing mobile, browser, and in-vehicle applications like the MySubaru mobile application and Apple watch app, which influence customer experience and support Subaru’s strategic goals. Interns will work closely with a project team of developers, business analysts, and managers to gain valuable business and technical experience for future career opportunities.
