Information Security Intern (Entry-Level)

About the Opportunity
This is an entry-level professional training position designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in Information Security. Under close supervision, you will perform duties of moderate difficulty, providing a valuable opportunity for professional development across various Information Security functions within our organization.
You will perform assigned tasks to acquire knowledge of the methods, procedures, and standards essential for successful performance in Information Security. This role offers broad exposure to the organization’s structure and operations, with specific activities varying by assignment. You will also be expected to model appropriate behavior consistent with the MLH Mission, Vision, and Values.
What You Will Do
- Apply analytical thinking techniques to address information security problems and initiatives.
- Perform various administrative functions to support the Information Security department.
- Gather and organize data to provide information for departmental projects and reports.
- Conduct interviews to obtain basic information for departmental use.
- Contact other departments or outside agencies (via phone) to request or provide information.
Education and Formal Training Requirements
- Required: Currently enrolled in a college program in Information Technology.
- Preferred: Currently enrolled in a college program in Information Systems.
Work Experience Requirements
- Required: 1-3 years of college coursework completed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs relevant to specific departmental functions.
- Basic mathematical proficiency, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and calculating percentages.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
Supervision Provided by This Position
There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position. This role will report directly to a supervisor.
Physical Demands
The physical activities associated with this position may include: climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Good balance and coordination are required.
- Physical Requirements: Light work – exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, or extensive reading.
- Environmental Conditions: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions found in a general office or administrative work setting.
