The Tone:
This is a fully remote Staff Accountant role at Benaiah Consulting Group, an outsourced accounting and advisory firm. The position is client-facing and focuses on the initial onboarding process for new clients. Your work is crucial in establishing a clean, organized, and dependable financial foundation that ensures the success of every client relationship and allows the firm to deliver ongoing support effectively.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Onboarding: Clean up and standardize new clients’ QuickBooks Online files to establish a solid financial foundation.
• Financial Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and other balance sheet accounts, while resolving historical accounting inconsistencies.
• Statement Preparation: Prepare adjusting journal entries for accruals, payroll, depreciation, and reclassifications to produce accurate financial statements.
• Software Integration: Assist with the implementation of various software, including payroll systems, POS integrations, and other third-party applications.
• Project Management & Communication: Maintain organized workpapers, communicate directly with clients for information and updates, and ensure projects are completed within established timelines.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably within public accounting, client accounting services (CAS), or an outsourced accounting environment. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred; applicable experience can substitute.
• Experience: Strong QuickBooks Online experience, coupled with a solid understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, financial statements, payroll, accrual accounting, and month-end accounting processes.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple implementation projects simultaneously; excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working independently while collaborating with teammates; curious, adaptable, and motivated to learn new technologies and accounting systems.
• Bonus: QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification, or a willingness and ability to earn it quickly.
