Job Title: Human Resources Student
Job Type: Temporary Full-Time
Location: Stevenson Memorial Hospital (Onsite)
Department: Human Resources
Salary: $21.11 – $26.20 per hour
FTE: 1
Position Summary:
The Human Resources Student provides administrative support services to the Human Resources Department and assists in the maintenance of the efficient operation of the office. They must maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy due to the sensitive nature of employee and candidate information.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administrative and Reception Support:
• Providing superior customer service by responding to internal and external queries.
• Answering phone inquiries.
• Meeting new hires, collecting information, and processing identification badges.
• Retrieving, delivering, and processing internal, electronic, and other mail.
• Filing employee documentation and other HR paperwork.
• Preparing letters confirming employment, transfer letters, and letters verifying hours worked.
• Assisting the recruitment process through collecting and filing resumes.
• Supporting the onboarding process for new hires.
• Photocopying.
• Ensuring adequate supply levels for the department.
• Data entry and inputting initial new hire information into the HRIS payroll system.
• Participating in special projects.
• Supporting the recruitment process by screening applicants, setting up interviews, and participating in interviews as required.
• Administrative Support for HR Projects:
• Assisting the HR Assistant on key projects.
• Assisting the HR team on ad hoc assignments.
• Administrative Support to the Manager of Human Resources:
• Scheduling appointments, as required.
• Completing tasks and projects as assigned by the Manager and HR team.
Qualifications:
• Education:
• Successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Enrolled in a Human Resources Management Post-Graduate Program.
• A university degree in a field related to human resource management (e.g., business administration, industrial relations, commerce, or psychology) is preferred.
• Experience:
• Experience working in an office setting in an administrative capacity is preferred.
• Familiarity with employment/labour legislation, employment standards, WSIB Act, and the Human Rights Code is required.
• Experience with policy development and research is an asset.
• Competencies:
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, patience, and common sense.
• Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher).
• Demonstrated ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team with a strong customer service focus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work accurately under conditions of frequent interruptions.

Hours of Work:
• Monday to Friday. Weekend work may be required as needed.
