Position Summary:
The Human Resources Student provides administrative support to the Human Resources Department, ensuring the efficient operation of the office. The role requires maintaining strict confidentiality and accuracy due to access to sensitive employee and candidate information. This is an onsite position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing administrative and reception support for the Human Resources department by:
• Providing superior customer service by responding to internal and external queries and referring matters to appropriate team members.
• Answering phone inquiries.
• Meeting new hires, collecting information, and processing identification badges.
• Retrieving, delivering, and processing internal, electronic, and other mail.
• Filing employee documentation and other HR paperwork.
• Preparing letters confirming employment, transfer letters, and letters verifying hours worked for employees.
• Assisting the recruitment process through collecting and filing resumes.
• Supporting the onboarding process for new hires.
• Photocopying as requested.
• Ensuring an appropriate level of supplies is ordered and available for the department.
• Assisting with data entry and inputting initial new hire information into the HRIS payroll system.
• Participating in special projects.
• Supporting recruitment process by screening applicants, setting up interviews and participating in interviews as required.
• Provide Administrative Support With Human Resource Department Projects By
• Assisting the HR Assistant on key projects.
• Assisting the HR team on ad hoc assignments, as required.
• Providing administrative support to the Manager of Human Resources, including:
• Scheduling of appointments, as required.
• Completing tasks and projects as assigned by the Manager and HR team.
Education:
• Successful completion of a high school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Enrolled in a Human Resources Management Post-Graduate Program.
• A university degree in a field related to human resource management, such as business administration, industrial relations, commerce or psychology preferred.
Experience:
• Experience working in an office setting in an administrative capacity preferred.
• Familiarity with employment/labour legislation, employment standards, WSIB Act and the Human Rights Code required.
• Experience with policy development and research an asset.
Competencies:
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, patience, and common sense.
• Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher).
• Demonstrated ability to maintain absolute confidentiality required.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team with a strong interest in customer service focus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work accurately under conditions of frequent interruptions.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday. Weekend work may be required as needed.
