InterDent, headquartered in El Segundo, CA, with a secondary corporate office in Vancouver, WA, operates under the brands Gentle Dental and Smile Keepers. They provide business support to nearly 200 dental practices across eight states: Arizona, California, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington.
Job Description: Human Resources Specialist
This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring a minimum of four days per week on-site at either the El Segundo, CA or Vancouver, WA office. The Human Resources Specialist will focus on employee relations and HR support for 30+ dental offices in California and Hawaii. This role also provides support to the company’s Leaves and Benefits team. A strong service mindset and commitment to support are essential.
Core Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the supported business units.
• Manage all employee relations matters within the assigned region (California and Hawaii).
• Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with employees at all levels, including managers, directors, and executives.
• Collaborate with the Regional Vice President and Directors of Operations to implement performance improvement strategies.
• Partner with Operations leaders to identify and address regional development needs.
• Provide coaching to leaders on performance management, addressing behavioral issues, interpreting company policies, and managing terminations to mitigate legal risks.
• Facilitate and mediate interventions to resolve conflicts.
• Benefits Responsibilities: Provide timely and accurate responses to employee and management inquiries regarding day-to-day HR issues and activities; answer phones and emails; update information in the HRIS and intranet portal.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in employee relations.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to manage challenging situations.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, relationship building).
• Proven critical thinking and sound judgment.
• Desire for professional growth and development within HR.
• Ability to manage business expectations and resolve concerns through effective communication.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and escalate issues appropriately.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
Education and Experience:
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of HR administration experience (internship experience may be included), preferably in Benefits, HRIS, or Leave of Absence administration.
• Strong understanding of general HR and employment law.
