InterDent, headquartered in El Segundo, CA, with a secondary corporate office in Vancouver, WA, operates nearly 200 dental practices under the brands Gentle Dental and Smile Keepers. These practices span eight states: Arizona, California, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington.
Job Description: Human Resources Specialist
This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring a minimum of four days on-site per week at either the El Segundo, CA or Vancouver, WA office.
The Human Resources Specialist provides comprehensive HR support for dental offices in California and Hawaii, focusing on employee relations within a multi-site environment (30+ offices). Key responsibilities include:
• Employee Relations: Managing all employee relations issues across the region, building positive relationships with employees at all levels (employees, managers, directors, executives), and acting as a liaison between employees and management. This involves coaching leaders on performance management, addressing behavioral issues, interpreting company policy, and managing terminations to minimize legal risk. Conflict resolution and mediation are also core duties.
• Performance Improvement: Supporting Regional Vice Presidents and Directors of Operations in implementing strategies to enhance performance. This includes identifying regional development needs and collaborating with operations leaders to address them.
• Benefits Administration: Providing timely and accurate responses to employee and management inquiries regarding day-to-day HR issues and benefits. This encompasses answering phone calls and emails, updating information within the HR Information System (HRIS) and company intranet, and working with the Leaves and Benefits team.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
• Proven experience in employee relations.
• Exceptional customer service skills with a demonstrated ability to handle challenging and stressful situations effectively.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, persuasive, motivational) and the ability to foster strong working relationships.
• Critical thinking and sound judgment.
• A desire for professional growth and development within HR.
• Effective business expectation management and conflict resolution, including the ability to clearly communicate status updates and issues.
• Prioritization and escalation of critical issues as needed.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of HR administration experience, preferably in benefits, HRIS, or leave of absence administration (internship experience may be considered).
• Solid understanding of general HR and employment law.
