InterDent, headquartered in El Segundo, CA, with a second corporate office in Vancouver, WA, operates nearly 200 dental practices across eight states (Arizona, California, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington) under the brands Gentle Dental and Smile Keepers. They provide business support to these practices.

Job Description: Human Resources Specialist

This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring a minimum of four days per week onsite at either the El Segundo, CA or Vancouver, WA office. The HR Specialist will focus on employee relations and HR support for 30+ dental offices in California and Hawaii. Key responsibilities include:

Employee Relations: Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the supported business units and managing all employee relations issues within the California and Hawaii region. This involves building and maintaining positive relationships with employees at all levels (employees, managers, directors, and executives).
Performance Improvement: Supporting Regional Vice Presidents and Directors of Operations in implementing performance improvement strategies and coaching leaders on performance management, behavioral issues, policy interpretations, and terminations to minimize legal risk. This includes facilitating and mediating interventions to resolve conflict.
Benefits Support: Providing timely and accurate responses to employee and management inquiries regarding day-to-day HR issues and benefits. This also entails updating information in the HR Information System (HRIS) and intranet portal.
Regional Development: Working with Operations leaders to identify and address regional development needs.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of HR administration experience, preferably in Benefits, HRIS, or Leave of Absence (LOA) administration (internship experience may be considered).
• Proven experience in employee relations.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to manage difficult situations.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, and building strong working relationships).
• Proven critical thinking and good judgment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and HRIS systems.
• A solid understanding of general HR and employment law.

The ideal candidate will possess a service-oriented mindset and a focus on providing support. A desire for growth and development within the HR field is also desired. The ability to manage business expectations, resolve concerns, communicate status and issues, and effectively prioritize and escalate issues is essential.
