About the Company:

InterDent, based in El Segundo, CA, with a second corporate office in Vancouver, WA, operates nearly 200 dental practices across eight states (Arizona, California, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington) under the brands Gentle Dental and Smile Keepers. They provide business support to these practices.

Job Description: Human Resources Specialist

This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring a minimum of four days on-site per week at either the El Segundo, CA or Vancouver, WA office. The role focuses on employee relations and HR support for 30+ dental offices in California and Hawaii. A key aspect is supporting the Leaves and Benefits team.

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the supported business units and manage all employee relations issues within the California and Hawaii region.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with employees at all levels (employees, managers, directors, and executives).
• Support the Regional Vice President and Directors of Operations in implementing performance improvement strategies.
• Collaborate with Operations leaders on regional development needs.
• Coach leaders on performance management, behavioral issues, policy interpretations, and terminations to minimize legal risk.
• Facilitate and mediate interventions to resolve conflicts.
• Provide timely and accurate responses to employee and management inquiries regarding daily HR issues and activities (phone, email).
• Update information in the HRIS and intranet portal.

• Proven experience in employee relations.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle difficult situations.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, relationship building).
• Proven critical thinking and good judgment.
• Desire for professional growth in HR.
• Ability to manage business expectations and resolve concerns through communication.
• Ability to prioritize and escalate issues effectively.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of HR administration experience (internship experience may be included), preferably in benefits, HRIS, or LOA administration.
• Solid understanding of general HR and employment law.
