Operating under the brands Gentle Dental and Smile Keepers, they provide business support to nearly 200 dental practices across eight states: Arizona, California, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington.
Job Description: Human Resources Specialist
This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring a minimum of four days on-site per week at either the El Segundo, CA or Vancouver, WA office. The HR Specialist will focus on employee relations and HR support for 30+ dental offices in California and Hawaii. The role also provides support to the company’s Leaves and Benefits team. A strong service mindset and dedication to support are essential.
Core Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the supported business units and manage all employee relations issues within the California and Hawaii region.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with employees at all levels, from staff to executives.
• Support the Regional Vice President and Directors of Operations in implementing performance improvement strategies.
• Collaborate with Operations leaders to identify and address regional development needs.
• Coach leaders on performance management, handling behavioral issues, interpreting company policies, and managing terminations to minimize legal risk.
• Facilitate and mediate interventions to resolve conflicts.
• Benefits Responsibilities: Provide timely and accurate responses to employee and management inquiries regarding daily HR issues. Manage communication via phone and email. Maintain accurate information within the HRIS system and intranet portal.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in employee relations.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult and stressful situations.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, and relationship building).
• Proven critical thinking and sound judgment.
• A desire for professional growth and development within the HR field.
• Ability to manage business expectations, resolve concerns, and communicate status updates and issues effectively.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and escalate issues appropriately.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of HR administration experience (internship experience may be considered), preferably in Benefits, HRIS, or Leave of Absence administration.
• Solid understanding of general HR and employment law.
Pay Range: $27 – $30 per hour, depending on experience.
