InterDent, headquartered in El Segundo, CA, with a secondary corporate office in Vancouver, WA, operates nearly 200 dental practices across eight states (Arizona, California, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington) under the brands Gentle Dental and Smile Keepers. They provide business support to these practices.
Job Description: Human Resources Specialist
This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring a minimum of four days on-site per week at either the El Segundo, CA or Vancouver, WA office. The Human Resources Specialist will support the overall HR function for InterDent’s dental offices in California and Hawaii, focusing primarily on employee relations and HR support within a multi-site environment (30+ offices). This role also provides support to the Leaves and Benefits team. A strong service mindset and a focus on support are essential.
Core Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the supported business units and manage all employee relations issues within the California and Hawaii region.
• Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with employees at all levels (from employees to executives).
• Collaborate with the Regional Vice President and Directors of Operations to implement performance improvement strategies.
• Work with Operations leaders to identify and address regional development needs.
• Coach leaders on performance management, behavioral issues, policy interpretations, and terminations, aiming to minimize legal risks.
• Facilitate and mediate interventions to resolve conflicts.
• Benefits Responsibilities: Provide timely and accurate responses to employee and management inquiries regarding day-to-day HR matters (via phone, email, etc.), update HRIS and intranet information.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in employee relations.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle challenging and stressful situations.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, persuasive, motivational, relationship-building).
• Demonstrated critical thinking and sound judgment.
• Enthusiasm for professional growth within the HR field.
• Ability to manage business expectations, resolve concerns, and communicate status and issues effectively.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and escalate issues appropriately.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
• Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least one year of HR administration experience (preferably in Benefits, HRIS, or LOA administration; internship experience may be considered).
• Thorough understanding of general HR and employment law.
