Job Description

The YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Human Resources Intern. This internship provides hands-on experience in various HR functions, offering a solid foundation for a future career in Human Resources.

The intern will support the HR department in administrative and operational tasks, including:

• Utilizing an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to manage the recruitment process, from job posting to resume screening.
• Maintaining and updating employee records, certifications, and HR databases.
• Supporting the onboarding process for new hires by conducting orientation sessions.
• Gaining an understanding of employment regulations and their application to HR functions.
• Assisting with benefits administration, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and leave of absence administration.
• Contributing to special HR projects and initiatives as needed.
• Providing general administrative support to the Director of HR.

The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field and possesses a strong interest in an HR career. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and proficiency in G Suite and Microsoft Office Suite are essential.
