Job Overview
This is an internship that offers an excellent opportunity for a student to gain practical experience in the recruitment process, onboarding, and candidate engagement. It is a part-time position, limited to up to 19 hours per week during each semester.
Essential Functions
The intern will perform a variety of duties, including:
• Participating in recruitment activities to ensure an efficient, effective, and equitable process.
• Preparing job descriptions and job postings according to County recruitment standards.
• Responding to inquiries about recruitment activities and the status of job vacancies.
• Contacting candidates, scheduling interviews, and assisting hiring managers in developing interview questions.
• Assisting with interviewing, testing, ranking, reference checks, candidate selection, and providing feedback to unsuccessful candidates based on pre-established criteria and County policies.
• Preparing job offer materials to provide successful candidates with necessary information.
• Assisting in preparing offer letters and pre-employment paperwork.
• Supporting new employees with onboarding documentation, system access, and introductions.
• Maintaining onboarding checklists and ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Preparing and maintaining personnel files for new and existing employees.
• Ensuring all required HR documents are collected, signed, and securely stored.
• Updating and organizing employee records in compliance with company policies and labor laws.
• Assisting in auditing personnel files for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
• Contributing to other talent management and training and development initiatives as needed, including participation in various HR special projects assigned by the Director.
• Assisting with volunteer applications and hiring volunteers.
• Organizing and filing HR documents.
• Assisting with processing new hires, terminations, position changes, E-Verify, and verification of employment.
• Assisting with printing, scanning, and filing FMLA and ADA paperwork.
• Assisting with certain payroll processes, such as entering garnishments and retirement changes.
• Helping to support employee training and development programs as needed.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
• Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Students must have completed a minimum of two (2) semesters or at least 24 credit hours by the start of the internship.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
• Knowledge: Working knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, and equipment.
• Skills: Skilled in professional communication; operating all applicable computer hardware and software applications. Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Abilities:
• Properly handle sensitive information/records and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Work well under stress and pressure.
• Work with detail and maintain a high degree of accuracy.
• Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at various organizational levels.
• Advise others about County policies and procedures.
• Follow written and oral instructions.
• Operate computer equipment and applicable software.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, employees, other agencies, and the general public.
