This role is crucial for connecting thousands of students with expert online tutors, enabling them to significantly improve their HSPT Math scores and overall test readiness for competitive Catholic high school admissions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruction: Provide personalized, one-on-one online instruction to eighth-grade students preparing for the HSPT Mathematics section.
• Content Mastery: Explain complex HSPT Mathematics content, encompassing arithmetic, algebra, geometry, measurement, data interpretation, and quantitative reasoning, ensuring students grasp concepts like number properties, fraction operations, algebraic equations, and statistical analysis.
• Strategy Development: Teach effective strategic test-taking and problem-solving approaches, including efficient mental math techniques, estimation, and systematic methods for solving multi-step word problems and applying geometric formulas within time constraints.
• Adaptive Teaching: Adapt instructional methods and materials by utilizing HSPT practice tests, targeted arithmetic drills, and geometry review to address common student challenges such as time pressure and specific curriculum gaps.
• Logistics Management: Invoice for all completed tutoring sessions through the Varsity Tutors platform, allowing the company to handle payment processing efficiently.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Demonstrated deep knowledge and mastery of the HSPT Mathematics section content, including all relevant arithmetic, algebra, geometry, measurement, data interpretation, and quantitative reasoning topics required for eighth-grade students aiming for Catholic high school admission.
• Experience: Proven ability to effectively teach efficient test-taking strategies, guide students through complex problem-solving scenarios, and adapt instructional approaches to meet individual learning styles and needs. Experience with HSPT-specific content and challenges is essential.
• Skills: Expertise in explaining mathematical concepts clearly and using multiple approaches; proficiency in teaching strategic test-taking for timed exams; strong capability to adapt curriculum to student needs and common test challenges; excellent communication skills with a friendly and engaging teaching style.
