HR Service Center/Payroll Intern Spring 2027 | BMW Group

The intern’s contributions will be vital in maintaining HR efficiency, compliance, and associate satisfaction within a manufacturing environment.

• Mission: To contribute to process improvement, support all HR Service Center activities, and ensure accurate and timely payroll for Plant Spartanburg associates.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Onboard new hires: Support new hire processes including orientations, meetings, and ensuring all entry paperwork is completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with Federal regulations, also gathering missing documentation.
• Drive process improvement and data analysis: Lead process improvement activities and complete data analysis, creating data visualizations and dashboards utilizing Power BI.
• Provide associate support: Offer prompt customer service to associates with general HR inquiries, payroll questions, and payroll-related policy questions, including managing payroll mail topics.
• Conduct audits and reporting: Perform new hire, payroll, and Time Management team audits, run reports, and prepare data for plant-wide reporting and legal requests.
• Manage HR programs and documentation: Support Plant Spartanburg’s service anniversary award program and review and update process documentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Accounting, Finance, or Information Technology. This is an entry-level internship position designed for enrolled students.
• Experience: Must be an enrolled student at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States and have completed at least 30 credit hours at the time of application. The work term dates are January 11th – May 14th, 2027, requiring the ability to work full-time (40 hours / week) on-site.
• Skills: Competent knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is required. Demonstrated analytical skills are essential for data analysis and problem-solving initiatives.
• Bonus: Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major). Transfer students must provide a GPA from their current university. A copy of an unofficial transcript must be attached with the application. Completion and passing of a substance abuse test are required before the work term begins.
