Job Description: HR Intern/Co-Op
This is a flexible 6-12 month+ internship or co-op position designed for students, accommodating various school schedules.
• Compensation: $20 – $23 per hour.
• Purpose: The role is project-based, specifically designed for students enrolled in degree programs. Its primary objective is to enhance the intern’s HR knowledge and provide practical, hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Essential Job Functions:
• Maintains and organizes all filing systems.
• Manages office supply ordering.
• Maintains accurate training and competency records.
• Processes ID badges for employees.
• Ensures the ready availability of necessary HR forms and paperwork.
• Assists with various recruiting activities, including posting job openings and scheduling interviews.
• Provides support for the onboarding process of new hires.
• Assists with the delivery of payroll checks and addresses employee questions regarding deductions and garnishments.
• Ensures strict adherence to all company safety regulations and other company policies.
• Maintains a current understanding of new and existing laws/regulations relevant to the human resources profession and communicates this information to management.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the HR team.
• Reporting Relations: The HR Intern/Co-Op reports directly to the HR Manager.
• Special Skills and Physical Requirements:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Possession of strong writing and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
• Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
• A demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues with discretion.
• Education and Experience:
• Must be a full-time student actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related major.
• A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher is required.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
• Possesses excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrates intermediate computer skills, including all MS Office applications.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, and exhibit a flexible and professional approach to all duties.
• Capable of dealing with confidential and sensitive issues appropriately.
• Consistently behaves professionally and actively supports all management policies, programs, and procedures.
