Job Description: HR Intern
This is a summer internship (late May – August) with the potential for extension into the winter break, located in McLean, Virginia and expected to be hybrid. The internship is part of BAE Systems’ nationwide Internship & Co-Op Program, LEAP (Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress). The role involves supporting the Intelligence & Security Headquarters HR team, working alongside HR specialists and generalists on various projects.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborating with different HR functions to gain a broad understanding of human resources.
• Working directly with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to implement HR programs.
• Participating in the execution of the company’s sector-wide internship program.
• Shadowing HRBPs during employee relations activities.
• Learning about and contributing to employee onboarding processes.
• Partnering with and gaining exposure to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Talent Management activities.
• Supporting Talent Acquisition programs and initiatives including recruitment marketing, event management, and recruiting/sourcing strategies.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Required:
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
• Rising junior, senior, or graduate student status.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize projects with multiple deadlines.
• Preferred:
• Previous HR-related internship experience.
• Completion of at least two years of undergraduate study.
• Local residence to a BAE Systems site location.
Compensation:
• Full-Time Salary Range: $43,847 – $59,143 (Note: This range is based on market pay structures, but individual salaries are determined by various factors including business needs, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications.)
• Temporary employees generally are not eligible for all BAE Systems benefits but may participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Those working 20+ hours/week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
