Job Description: Houston Technology Consulting Intern – 2025

Location: Houston, TX
Type: Internship, Full-time, Hybrid
Level: Intern Level
Compensation: $34/hr

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the team: Work closely with experienced professionals to deliver client solutions for complex business problems.
Gain experience and grow: Gain hands-on experience in different industries, develop your technical skills, and enhance your leadership capabilities.
Participate in Protiviti onboarding and training: Engage in “Liftoff with Protiviti,” a comprehensive onboarding program, and attend “The Intern Challenge,” an experiential learning course.
Contribute to client projects: Work across various industries and participate in internal initiatives.
Receive mentorship and guidance: Benefit from hands-on training in a supportive environment and interact with leaders across the practice.
Specific project assignments: Talent Managers will assign you specific projects that align with your skills and career goals, as well as the business’s needs.
Technology focus: Help clients leverage the power of Microsoft to enhance collaboration and productivity.
Risk assessment and security: Conduct risk assessments, perform technical testing, and identify security vulnerabilities in client systems.
Technology and organizational resilience: Assist clients in managing both technology risk and their overall resilience.

Qualifications:

Required:

Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Decision Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Internet of Things, Applied Math, Machine Learning, Quantum, or other technology majors)
Visa Status: Must be authorized to work in the United States for Protiviti without sponsorship.
Graduation Status: Must be within one year of graduating.
Communication: Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
Critical Thinking: Ability to apply critical thinking and innovation to client engagements.
Research and Analysis: Demonstrated ability and motivation to research and analyze client, industry, and technical information.
Business Intelligence: Basic experience with major Business Intelligence reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, BusinessObjects, Hyperion, Cognos, Microstrategy, Tableau, QlikView, or SSRS).
Network Security: Entry-level experience with domain management strategies, network segmentation, firewalls, and middleware tools.
IT Controls: Introductory knowledge of internal control frameworks or IT controls, especially related to SAP.
Database Management: Basic experience with major database management systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, TeraData).
Technology Project Risk: Familiarity with technology project risks and strategies for managing and mitigating them.
Security Fundamentals: Basic knowledge of security topics like authentication, entitlements, identity management, data protection, data leakage prevention, encryption, hashing, and more.
Process Reengineering: Fundamental understanding of process reengineering and methodologies, including flowcharting and technical design documentation.
Technical Communication: Ability to convey complex technical security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Academic Background: Strong academic record.
Teamwork and Independence: Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Analytical Skills: Creative and analytical mind with a passion for data evaluation, synthesis, organization, and interpretation.
Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Self-Motivation: Ability to self-motivate and take ownership of personal growth and development.
Learning and Feedback: Openness to learning, feedback, and mentorship.
Technology and Business Interest: A genuine interest in technology and/or business operations.
Professional Certifications: Drive to obtain professional technical certifications.
