About the Host Team Intern Job:

This is an internship within the Hospitality Department at the Fort Lauderdale Campus of Calvary Chapel. The Host Team Intern reports to the Director of Hospitality and works approximately 20-25 hours per week from Friday to Sunday.

Job Summary:

The Host Team Intern will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and hospitable environment for all who attend Calvary Chapel. This includes handling reception duties, supporting church services, assisting with baptisms, and providing support to volunteers and new believers. The intern will gain valuable experience in servant leadership, communication, teamwork, and event logistics, all while reflecting the love of Jesus.

Key Responsibilities:

Church Reception:
• Answering and directing incoming calls, providing helpful information about services, ministries, directions, and resources.
• Assisting with benevolence, counseling, and prayer requests.
Church Services:
• Ensuring the campus is prepared for the weekend, including signage and handouts.
• Attending and potentially leading pre-service meetings.
• Connecting with new Host Team volunteers and assisting with training.
• Assisting with volunteer placement.
• Supporting the New Believer Ministry and being present for altar calls.
• Assisting in staging and staffing the Connection Point (Welcome Center), maintaining supplies.
• Managing lost and found items.
• Collaborating with the Parking Team.
• Assisting with Communion setup and distribution.
Baptism:
• Coordinating with Baptism speakers and the worship team.
• Organizing and packing the Baptism Truck with volunteers.
• Helping with beach setup and teardown.

Learning Goals:

• Reflect the love of Jesus through interactions with guests, volunteers, and staff.
• Cultivate servant leadership by anticipating needs and creating a welcoming environment.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately via phone and in person.
• Share information in a way that reflects the organization’s mission and values.
• Gain experience in training, supporting, and placing volunteers.
• Build rapport and work effectively with diverse teams.
• Understand the logistics behind setting up for services and special events.
• Manage resources, supplies, and scheduling.
• Respond to prayer requests, benevolence needs, and connect with new believers with sensitivity.
• Build confidence in leading meetings and making real-time decisions.

Work Schedule:

• Thursday: 9 am – 2 pm
• Friday: 9 am – 5 pm (Intern cohort from 9 am – 2 pm)
• Saturday: 1 pm – 8 pm
• Sunday: 8 am – 1 pm

The schedule is subject to change depending on campus events. The role may require prolonged periods of bending, sitting, or standing, and the ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
