Job Description
Job Title: Hospitality Management Intern
Purpose of the Role:
This is a paid internship position designed to provide support to the management team. The primary goal is to contribute to delivering outstanding customer service to guests and clients. The intern will also be involved in key human resources functions, specifically focusing on recruiting and enhancing team member experience and productivity. A significant aspect of the internship is to gain exposure to best practices in managing a dynamic culinary business operation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client, Customer, and Guest Relations:
• Develops and maintains cooperative and congenial relationships with staff across various departments.
• Greets guests and serves as the first point of contact for all visitors.
• Proactively addresses customer and client needs.
• Models the “Smile Plus” hospitality imperatives, promoting a welcoming and positive guest experience.
2. Operational Execution:
• Ensures the cleanliness and presentability of the facility.
• Successfully operates the Point of Sale (POS) system.
• Gains an understanding of company standards and cost controls.
• Collaborates with leadership to comprehend the effective operation of a business through the lens of finances, supply chain, marketing, and organizational structure.
3. Human Resources:
• Assists in talent acquisition tasks, contributing to the recruitment process.
• Helps to draft and implement action plans aimed at influencing team member engagement.
• Observes the disciplinary process, gaining insight into human resources procedures.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Be a current university student pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new information effectively.
• Exhibit strong leadership skills.
• Be capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects within a fast-paced environment.
• Be fluent in Microsoft Office Suite and technologically savvy.
• Have a confident with a friendly personality.
• Be a demonstrated team player.
Start Date & Hours:
• The internship requires a commitment of at least a full semester, with the option to extend for a full academic year, commencing in the fall semester.
• The work schedule will be a minimum of 10-20 hours per week, as agreed upon with the supervisor.
• These hours must be carried out over a minimum of two days per week.
• The schedule offers flexibility to accommodate class schedules and other on-campus commitments.
