Job Description: Hospital Psychologist – Clinical Faculty

This is a full-time Hospital Psychologist position with a Clinical Faculty appointment within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. The work schedule is 8 hours.

The successful candidate will join the faculty of Rush Medical College.

Work Environment and Location:
• The position will divide time between Rush University Medical Center and the newly established Rush Specialty Hospital, a 100-bed facility on the Rush University Medical Center campus.
• Rush Specialty Hospital features 44 critical illness recovery beds and 56 inpatient rehabilitation beds, outfitted with the latest technology.
• This role is part of the Division of Hospital Psychology, specifically within the Section of Rehabilitation Psychology.
• The division provides psychological services to patients and families across various units, including critical care, acute care, acute rehabilitation, and critical illness recovery units.
• The Section of Rehabilitation Psychology encompasses multiple service lines: Consultation/Liaison Psychology (for critical care and acute care), Rehabilitation Psychology (for acute rehabilitation and critical illness recovery), and a small outpatient clinic for recently discharged patients.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Primarily responsible for meeting the needs of acute rehabilitation patients.
• Working closely with clinical services across the hospital to care for patients with new disabilities, new medical diagnoses, and other rehabilitation psychology and critical care psychology needs.
• Providing leadership and program development services to system-wide mental health expansion efforts, in collaboration with other mental health providers.
• The position is primarily focused on servicing inpatient units.
• Opportunities exist for the successful candidate to take on a small number of post-discharge clinic patients if interested.

Academic and Supervisory Duties:
• As a Clinical Faculty member, responsibilities include supervision and teaching postdoctoral fellows, residents, medical students, and other trainees.
• Specifically, the role involves supervising postdoctoral fellows in the Rehabilitation Psychology Fellowship program and residents in the Health Psychology internship track.
• Opportunities for research, mentorship, and other activities within Rush’s academic community may be available, depending on the candidate’s background and experience.

Required Qualifications:
• Must be board certified or eligible in Rehabilitation Psychology.
• Possess a strong clinical background with experience managing a broad range of mental disorders.

Compensation and Benefits:
• Offers a competitive salary and benefits package, with an academic rank commensurate with experience.
• The pay range for this full-time (1.0 FTE) position is $114,000 – $147,000. This range reflects factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, education, certifications, and primary work location, and includes any applicable incentive payments.

• Additional compensation may include sign-on and retention bonuses, and relocation allowances.
