Job Description

This is a non-paid internship position for a Home Help Macro Intern located in Lansing, MI. The intern will work with the Home Help team, focusing on macro-level policies and procedures impacting people statewide.

Key Aspects:

Focus: Reviewing policies and procedures at a state level.
Opportunity: Understanding how a state-level program is administered and how data informs decision-making.
Experience: The intern should have experience providing services to vulnerable individuals (children or adults).
Location: Primarily remote, but some in-person meetings in Lansing may be required.

Intern Responsibilities/Projects

The intern will meet weekly with the Home Help Program Manager to discuss progress on assigned projects. Projects will align with the intern’s interests and learning goals.

Examples of Projects:

• Participating in agency provider meetings to share information and address questions.
• Researching policies in other states and sharing findings.
• Actively participating in team discussions and strategy development.
• Collecting and analyzing data for quality control.
• Creating PowerPoint presentations.
• Developing surveys for providers, clients, and/or staff.
• Developing training materials and job aids.
• Participating in discussions around diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Required Education and Experience

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in one of the following: Social Work, Public Health, Business Administration, Communications, Public Administration, Social Innovation, Health Care Administration.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiar with video conferencing using Zoom and Microsoft TEAMS.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn new technology quickly.
• Able to manage time independently to complete projects in a timely manner.
