Job Description:
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is seeking a Home Help Macro Intern. This is an unpaid internship located in Lansing, MI. The intern will work with the Home Help team, which focuses on policies and procedures impacting people statewide. This is a macro-level position, providing an opportunity to see how a state-level program is administered and how data is used in decision-making.
Intern Responsibilities/Projects:
The intern will meet weekly with the Home Help Program Manager to discuss project progress. Projects will be assigned based on interest and skill development goals. Responsibilities may include:
• Participating in agency provider meetings.
• Researching policy items in other states.
• Participating in team discussions.
• Completing data collection and analysis for quality control.
• Creating PowerPoint presentations.
• Creating surveys for providers, clients, and/or adult services staff.
• Developing training materials and job aids.
• Participating in discussions around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Required Education and Experience:
• Must be currently enrolled in a master’s degree program in one of the following areas: Social Work, Public Health, Business Administration, Communications, Public Administration, Social Innovation, Health Care Administration
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with video conferencing using Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn new technology quickly.
• Ability to manage time independently.
