Home Health Aide – Outer Bay
SCAH-Sutter Care at Home – Outer Bay is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Home Health Aide to join our team. We are committed to providing exceptional personal care and non-professional household services to homebound patients, aligning with Sutter Health’s mission, goals, and objectives.
Position Overview
As a Home Health Aide, you will be responsible for meeting the hygiene, activities of daily living (ADL), and comfort needs of homebound patients. This includes providing direct personal care and assisting with household services essential for the patient’s well-being in their home environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care services, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other hygiene needs.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as mobility, transfers, feeding, and toileting.
- Perform light household duties necessary for the patient’s comfort and safety, such as tidying the patient’s immediate living area.
- Monitor and report changes in the patient’s condition to the supervising nurse.
- Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the patient.
- Adhere to universal precautions and infection control standards.
- Demonstrate a positive, customer-service oriented approach with patients, families, and co-workers.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Certification & Licensure
- HHA-Home Health Aide certification
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
- AUTO-Automobile Insurance
- DL-Valid Driver’s License Class C
Typical Experience
- 1 year of recent relevant experience in a healthcare setting, preferably home health.
Skills and Knowledge
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and health care practices, including understanding of universal precautions.
- Demonstrated positive customer service orientation; skill in working effectively with diverse groups of patients and co-workers.
- Ability to solve customer-service related problems for both internal and external customers.
- Ability to recognize and address the special needs and concerns of diverse patient populations and others in the home environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, maturely, and caringly with patients and their significant others.
- Tolerance for body secretions, odors, potential exposure to disease, and varied environmental conditions inherent in home care.
- Competency will be evaluated through a written test and during joint visits in the care of patients.

This requires managing, storing, preparing, receiving, unpacking, transporting, disposing of, or administering drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $29.28 to $35.13 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
