High School Science Tutor | Varsity Tutors

The Tone:

This role is crucial for delivering personalized, high-quality science instruction, helping students achieve academic success and deepen their understanding of scientific concepts from the comfort of their home. What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Provide personalized one-on-one and instant online tutoring sessions for high school science subjects.
• Teach: Break down complex scientific concepts and guide students through mathematical problem-solving, laboratory procedures, and data analysis methods.
• Adapt: Customize teaching approaches, including virtual labs and visual models, to meet individual learning needs and styles across various high school science curricula.
• Prepare: Help students prepare for AP science courses, Regents examinations, and college science prerequisites.
• Invoice: Submit invoices for tutoring sessions, with all payment logistics handled by Varsity Tutors.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Advanced subject mastery in high school biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science concepts, including cell biology, genetics, chemical reactions, forces and motion, energy, and earth systems.
• Experience: Capability to prepare students for AP science courses, Regents examinations, and college science prerequisites; proficient in guiding students through laboratory procedure execution, experiment design, quantitative data analysis, and lab report writing.
• Skills: Conceptual teaching, problem-solving in science contexts, curriculum awareness, adaptive instruction, strong communication, and an engaging teaching style.
• Bonus: Familiarity with common high school science challenges such as balancing chemical equations, understanding genetics problems, and applying physics formulas.
