MPC Commercial Internship
MPC offers several internship opportunities within their Commercial department. Interns work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to diverse work teams, gaining valuable insights into the company’s operations. Travel may be required for some roles.
1. Scheduling Intern:
• Responsibilities:
• Optimize resource allocation and production schedules.
• Schedule deliveries of light products, feedstocks, and biofuels via pipeline or waterborne transportation.
• Coordinate pipeline, barge, and tanker movements to meet customer demands, minimizing transportation costs.
• Monitor inventories, adjust shipping schedules, and develop improved scheduling methods to optimize resources.
• Coordinate communication regarding inventory or operational issues.
• Desired Major/Minor: Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance
2. Marketing Intern (Corporate Office & Field-Based):
• Corporate Office:
• Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competition to identify growth opportunities.
• Gather and interpret data, create reports, and assist in developing marketing strategies.
• Gain experience in market research and data-driven decision-making.
• Exposure to other departments like Product Quality, Governmental Affairs, Business Development, etc.
• Field-Based:
• Shadow Territory Managers, learning their responsibilities.
• Travel to customer offices and dealer locations.
• Assist with prospecting for new customers and projects/studies related to station financials.
• Exposure to various components of the Commercial organization.

3. Analytics Intern:
• Responsibilities:
• Assist with data collection, cleaning, and analysis to uncover trends and generate insights.
• Create reports and dashboards, conduct preliminary data analysis, and support data-related projects.
• Gain experience in data analysis and visualization.

4. Coordinating Intern:
• Responsibilities:
• Manage and streamline operational and project-related tasks.
• Coordinate communication and execution of projects across departments.
• Schedule meetings, track project progress, prepare reports, and assist with administrative tasks.
• Gain experience in organization, multitasking, and project/program coordination.

5. Systems Support Intern:
• Responsibilities:
• Maintain and troubleshoot Commercial systems and applications.
• Act as liaison between the Commercial organization and IT.

6. Commercial Development Intern:
• Responsibilities:
