Job Description: Healthcare Communications Summer Internship (Washington, D.C.)

FleishmanHillard is seeking a full-time summer intern to work on a range of healthcare clients in their Washington, D.C. office. The internship is open to college juniors, seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students.

Responsibilities: Interns will play an integral role within account teams, providing strategic support and developing essential public relations skills. Responsibilities include:

Research and Analysis: Conducting in-depth research on clients, industries, and competitors.
Content Creation: Developing written materials such as social media content, press releases, messaging documents, etc.
Media Relations: Building relationships with journalists and identifying key influencers and stakeholders.
External Engagement: Vetting and supporting external engagement opportunities.
Crisis Communication Support: Assisting with crisis planning, tracking, and results analysis.
Other Account-Related Activities: Contributing to a variety of tasks as needed to support the account team.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3.0 GPA (if currently enrolled)
• Completion of at least junior year of college
• Previous relevant internship experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to cultivating diverse teams and contributing to an inclusive work environment
• Strong interest in healthcare public relations (major not limited to PR or communications)

Additional Details:

• The internship is paid, full-time (40 hours/week), with compensation on the same schedule as other employees, including overtime pay when applicable. The anticipated hourly rate is $17.50 – $22.00 per hour. (Note that salary is based on a range of factors.)
• The internship offers a hybrid work experience (remote and in-office). Applicants must be local to the Washington, D.C. office or willing to relocate.
• The internship program runs during the spring, summer, and fall semesters.
