Detailed Job Description
In this role, you will play a significant part in ensuring a safe working environment by applying and promoting health and safety best practices. The position focuses on hazard control, risk reduction, and compliance within the facility or site.
Your responsibilities will involve:
• Assisting with Engineering Controls: You will support the implementation and use of engineering controls designed to manage hazards and minimize risks across the facility or site. This draws upon a comprehensive understanding of occupational health & safety fundamentals, including hazard and risk assessment, and applies principles of risk management and system safety.
• Hazard Identification and Evaluation: You will contribute to proactively anticipating, identifying, and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices. This requires a strong foundation in occupational health & safety fundamentals, as well as skills in risk management, system safety, and incident investigation techniques to understand potential issues.
• Developing Hazard Control Programs: You will be involved in creating basic designs, methods, procedures, and programs for controlling hazards. This aspect of the role leverages your knowledge of health and safety professional practices, occupational health & safety management systems, and applies principles from risk management and system safety.
• Administering and Communicating Programs: You will help administer and communicate various hazard control programs throughout the organization. This involves utilizing your understanding of health & safety professional knowledge and the framework of an occupational health & safety management system to ensure effective dissemination and implementation.
• Interpreting and Applying Standards: You will be responsible for interpreting and applying both internal and external health and safety standards. This is crucial for supporting hazard reduction efforts and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, drawing heavily on your comprehensive knowledge of occupational safety and health compliance, including local, state, provincial, national, and international regulations, and occupational health & safety management systems.
