Job Description:
Walworth County’s Health & Human Services (HHS) Department is offering a variety of limited-term internship opportunities, both paid and unpaid. These internships are designed for students and graduates in various fields related to health, social services, and related areas. The internships are located in Elkhorn, WI. The posting is continuous and there is no current closing date.
Specific Internship Areas:
• Public Health:
• Public Health Specialist: Focuses on health education, curriculum development, community events, and preparedness activities.
• Environmental Health: Involves water quality, lead poisoning prevention, lab work, sample collection, and vector monitoring.
• Public Health Nursing: For nursing students in BSN/MSN programs, focusing on community health clinical rotations.
• Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Dietetic: Provides clinical experience in a community WIC setting, supervised by an RD.
• Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC):
• ADRC Dietetic: Focuses on nutrition/health education and services for older adults, supervised by an RD.
• ADRC Social Work: Works with older adults and adults with disabilities, providing information, assistance, options counseling, and resource connection.
• Children and Families:
• Child Welfare (Bachelor/Master Level): Involves learning and participating in child welfare services within Chapter 48 standards.
• Youth Justice: Focuses on youth justice services within Wisconsin Chapter 938 standards.
• Veterans:
• Veterans Service Office: Navigates Federal and State Veterans Benefits, counseling individuals on eligibility for programs.
• Behavioral Health Unit (BHU):
• Behavioral Health: Provides resources and support for individuals with mental health needs.
• Behavioral Health Case Management: Provides mental health services in the community (assessments, recovery planning, counseling, etc.).
• Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic: Provides mental health services in an outpatient setting.
• Behavioral Health Crisis Intervention: Provides crisis assessments, linkage to resources, and psychoeducation.
Benefits:
• As Limited Term, Student Workers, interns are paid hourly but are not eligible for vacation, sick leave, holidays, health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, LTD insurance, or vision insurance.
• Employees expected to work less than 1200 hours per year will not receive Wisconsin Retirement benefits.
